the big picture
What made you want to pursue a career in music?
I have always enjoyed the idea of creative exploration. I love the creative lifestyle, ambition, motivation, and ideas. everything that goes into the music, not just the music itself. Things like graphics design, philosophy, writing, research as well as songwriting and music production. to me these are all connected.
Can you share some highlights of your music career if any?
I'm from a small town. I've played in bands, recorded local artists, stage-managed local festivals. lately, I've been seeking to get outside my local sphere and connect with others online.
How would you describe your style and sound as an artist?
production: Analog techniques using digital tools, good performance of good songs and working with session-players where they're needed.
songwriting: it's symbolic, maybe cryptic. I like the idea of saying it without saying it.
In what ways do you believe your music resonates with your audience?
Music is a reflection of the soul of the artist. If someone resonates with my music, it's because we have something in common.
How do you approach collaboration with other musicians or producers?
I help independent artists navigate the industry by providing support. I help artists solve problems to save time & energy. I seek to unpack what makes an artist unique and highlight it. often this work involves identifying and carefully navigating mental-resistances and limiting beliefs as much as it does working with the music.
Can you share any experiences working with a team in the past? or are you truly independent?
I've worked with teams in the past in other industries, but less in music. I prefer 1-on-1 with indies who want to remain indie. I co-founded a Silviculture coop, and have sat on a board of a local community development incubator. These teams were responsible for laying the groundwork for what would hopefully become scalable business' in their respective areas.
Have you had any significant achievements or accolades in your career that you're particularly proud of?
I prefer to remain behind the scenes - not seeking accolades, instead opting to give others the spotlight. after a several year hiatus from music, i'm rebuilding from the ground-up. building completely new network through referrals of which I've gained several in a few short months.
Have you faced any challenges in your career, and how did you overcome them?
Many, answer depends on context. Creative problem-solving, brute force through hard-work, or patience and giving challenges enough time to develop. what does the situation call for, and what solution would be most effective? for example, I used to try moreso to force the situation in order to reach my goals, it felt like the harder i reached, the further it seemed to get. I've since learned to start from the end, developing a core conviction that "i've already made it" - from there it was just a matter of walking the path. I've been doing this successfully ever since.
What motivates you to continue pushing yourself as an artist?
Consistent effort is my driver of achievement. For me, Artistic Vision sets the direction and the Goal sets the marker. After that, it's simply a matter of living it authentically and allowing things fall into place naturally.
How do you engage with your fan base on social media, and what role does it play in your overall strategy?
I try to be as natural as possible, to express my self truly. I try NOT to put on a facade. S.M. plays a large role in my strategy as my local scene is very small with limited noteworthy contacts, so it's important to be visible online. Social media to me is about reaching new people and earning their trust. It's not about the numbers, it's about the quality of the connections forged. it's marketing 101
What is the next project you plan to release?
Currently Developing online programs for online musicians. The project is a continual progression in my evolution. The way i see it, If i can help artists save time and energy, to avoid the common mistakes and pitfalls and reach goals faster, its a win.
Are you interested in a Royalty Split?
Not especially. I prefer freelance work. in some cases, i entertain co-writes, but it really depends on the project and it has to be the right fit.
